Dawn McKelvie Cyr
I'm a therapist (MA Counselling Psychology) with more than 35 years of combined experience in education, coaching, and counselling. Through Independence Counselling, I support clients in rebuilding self-worth, strengthening boundaries, and healing from complex and relational trauma.
As founder of the Intentional Curiosity Collective (ICC), I create psychoeducational and creative resources — courses, workbooks, guided audio, and written reflections — that make therapeutic insight accessible beyond the therapy room. My work blends evidence-based practice with storytelling, journaling, and mindfulness-based approaches to help people move from survival toward steadiness and self-trust.
My areas of focus include:
• Boundaries & interpersonal effectiveness
• Recovery from narcissistic abuse and family trauma
• Midlife identity transitions & caregiver support
• Stress, anxiety & emotional regulation
• Psychoeducational resource development
Whether I'm writing, teaching, or in session, my goal is the same: to create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow with intention and compassion.
Curiosity changes how we heal. Intention shapes how we grow. Both invite us to slow down, notice our patterns, and reconnect with our inner voice — even when the path feels uncertain.
