A month after attending her first yoga class here in Fredericton Emily made a big move to Iqaluit, Nunavut. Knowing that the northern community didn’t have a yoga studio or regular classes, she picked up as many yoga dvds as possible before jumping on a plane. A series by Canadian Yogi Eoin Finn entitled Yoga for Happiness became her daily practice and sanctuary while living away from home in another culture and arctic climate for the first time. Engaging with yoga and mindfulness led Emily back to school in Halifax a few years later. Motivated by the prospect of helping people slow down and feel good, she graduated in 2014 and became a Registered Massage Therapist. A self proclaimed anatomy nerd, Emily welcomes questions and discussion about all things body.
When not in the studio, Emily can usually be found out of doors. Growing up close to nature in the Village of Gagetown, her appreciation for the outdoors was cultivated early. Her first experiences with mindfulness happened while cross country skiing through the woods around the village. To this day when life gets too topsy-turvy, Emily heads into nature to come back to her center and reground. These days her husky, Zara, makes sure that she connects to the outdoors daily through rain and shine and all our beautiful weather.
In 2019 Emily completed a Yoga Teacher’s Training with Breathing Space Yoga Studio. The 6 month process brought forth new friendships, new knowledge, and a new commitment to living the best life and feeling gratitude every single day. An enthusiastic and encouraging teacher, Emily strives to create a welcoming space for students to explore their bodies and connect with themselves. Believing strongly that yoga is a feeling, not a shape, she strives to make the practice accessible to everyone as we all shed limiting beliefs and create more openness in our bodies and in ourselves.
