Namaste! My name is Elizabeth Hallam. I am very excited to be a part of Breathing Space Yoga Studio and introduce children 4-8 yrs to yoga.
Yoga first appeared in my life during a high school Phys-Ed class but it wasn't until 2012, when I attended a yoga for relaxation class, that I came to understand how yoga is healing for the mind, body and spirit.
My son Ari is 2 1/2 yrs old. He creates some cute, original yoga poses when he does yoga with me. After Ari’s birth I began taking different yoga classes and I realized that yoga could help children in the school setting.
Shortly after, I found out about the Breathing Space Yoga Teacher Training Program and signed up. How exciting it is when things just “appear” when you need them!
After completing my 200 hr Breathing Space Teacher Training Program (2015), I helped integrate yoga for children within the Park Street School environment. This integration has met with great success. For Christmas the yoga students did a yoga version of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” which exercised their voices, bodies and “funny bones”. I love teaching yoga poses though games, storytelling and social stories making yoga fun, engaging and interactive.
I completed my Child and Youth Care Worker diploma from CompCollege in 2007 after which I worked at the Autism Intervention Services as an Autism Support Worker (2007-2008).
From 2008-present I’ve been working as an EA for Anglophone West School District.
I furthered my education with an Autism Intervention Training Program through the UNB College of Extended Learning in 2010.
I recently received my certification for Yin Yoga through Pranashanti Yoga Studio, Ottawa Ontario.
I am presently working as an Educational Assistant with a specialty in Autism at Park Street School.
As a Pitta/Kapha I include deep relaxation, meditation and power yoga in my daily practice. I continue to gain personal insight into all yoga offers. This will be a life long journey! Teaching yoga to children is a passion of mine. Encouraging them to discover how yoga can help them explore their uniqueness, come to a place of calm and peacefulness, explore the wonder of their body and have fun while doing so gives me joy! I would be honored to explore yoga with your precious child!
