I was introduced to my first Sun Salutations at the age of 15, but it was only in my mid 20's that I started to practice yoga regularly. Power yoga was a big trend at that time. The physical aspect of it charmed me. I was very happy to finally find a physical activity that suited me. It did not take me long to realize that this practice had a major influence on my general well being. Yoga was THE tool to balance my mind and body. A couple of years later I started to practice in a Jivamukti studio, where I discovered the spiritual aspect of yoga. I learned that yoga can make me, you, everyone a truly better person.
Since 1999, I have been practicing a variety of styles. Hatha, yin, kundalini, jivamukti. My favorite to practice and teach is Ashtanga yoga. This practice brings me in a state of yoga more than any other style. The vitality and intensity of Ashtanga agrees with the pitta side of my dosha, and it provides the vigorous movement that my kapha side needs. I did my yoga teacher training at Yoga Haus, in Saint-John in 2014.
I am as well certified in Thai Yoga massage, an ancient energy based system that combines acupressure, assisted by yoga.
Trough the practice of yoga, I discovered that I was much stronger (physically + mentally) than I thought. I believe that we have misconceptions of what we are capable of. Through my teaching, I hope to give my students the key to open the door to this inner strength and to have faith in their own capacities. And as well, convey that yoga is more than a series of postures, it is a state that you carry outside of your mat, in daily life.
A few facts about me. I was a glassblower for 20 years. I walked a portion of The Camino in France. I had to stop my journey to Spain in the Pyrenees because the mountain pass I had to go trough was blocked with snow (in June). I look forward to finishing my journey, when my two children are older. I have the talent to whistle VERY loudly! :)
